We will protect vulnerable people and ensure victims and witnesses are placed at the heart of the criminal justice system, commissioning services to support them.
We will recognise every victim’s experience is different, and will provide a quality service which maintains their trust and confidence in the criminal justice system.
Police and Crime Commissioners are responsible for commissioning local support services for all victims of crime. The Ministry of Justice provides Commissioners with a grant each year to enable services which best meet the needs of local victims of crime to be funded.
In the months that have followed the publication of the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan, huge strides have been made to enhance the emotional and practical support services needed by victims and witnesses of crime. The Commissioner, in partnership with other agencies, has invested significant additional funding to expand resources and ensure help is delivered quickly whenever it is needed.
Information about the services we commission can be found here.
