Police and Crime Commissioner, Darryl Preston said:
“I welcome this week’s National Policing Statement, which sets out the scale, complexity and impact on victims of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and outlines how policing intends to improve its response to tackle it.
“It is appalling that at least one in twelve women is a victim of VAWG each year and I am committed to continue to work with others to eradicate this crime in all its forms.
“I will continue to support the police and partners to take an early intervention approach to help prevent this kind of violence from happening in the first place and explore further opportunities to work closely with the local authorities, charities and the private sector across Cambridgeshire to prevent its escalation and ensure victims of violence get the support they need.”
