Communications Officer

An exciting short term contract opportunity has arisen for a communications professional to join the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), Cambridgeshire.
Reporting to the Director of Public Engagement and Communications the main focus of the role is to ensure that OPCC’s strategic work and policies are informed by the views of the public and the office’s work is effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
You will lead on media relations, proactively communicating the work of the OPCC via the media and other channels to key audiences locally and nationally. You will also be responsible for creating content for the website, news bulletins, social media and other channels
You will support and advise the Police and Crime Commissioner, the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, Chief Executive and other team members on communication issues.
We are seeking an energetic self-starter with experience of communications and public engagement. In particular you will need to demonstrate a track record in media relations and have strong writing skills.
This is a short term contract to cover until 31 March 2015 and will be reviewed at that time.
