SHOPPERS in Budgens, Chatteris had a surprise welcome from Sir Graham Bright, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire, when he joined local officers at the latest Police Contact Point.

The Police Contact Point, located at the Budgens store on the High Street, will be regularly staffed by PCSOs Dawn Rae and Jo Ford, who will be on hand to hear the views of the public and provide advice and guidance on police and crime issues.

Sir Graham said: “The contact point will be a highly visible and easily accessible way for the public to raise any issues or concerns with the local policing team. Having a contact point like this in such a popular location will make it easier for people to discuss issues within the Chatteris area. This is about listening to the public and further increasing the time our officers spend out in their communities.”

Area Commander for Fenland Mike Hills, who manages the local policing team, said “We know that people want to see officers out in their communities as much as possible and having a regular Contact Point at such a busy location allows more people to drop by and talk to their local policing team. My team will be on hand to support people with any policing issue they may have and also to hear about what concerns people have in their community.”
