Volunteers
There are lots of ways in which members of the public can get involved in policing, from helping the Commissioner to set policing priorities to becoming a volunteer.
A two page summary of some of the volunteering opportunities is available below.
A Commissioner has a statutory duty to consult with members of the public and take their views into account. This engagement is done in many different ways: from attending neighbourhood meetings, community events and sitting on partnership groups to hosting online polls or more traditional surveys.
The Commissioner values the opinions of people who live and work in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and wants more people to get involved with policing.
There are also many opportunities to volunteer for the Constabulary: for example by joining the Cambridgeshire Special Constabulary or joining a ‘Watch’ scheme in your area – which range from Countryside to Neighbourhood. Contact your local officer for more details of each of these schemes.
