Substance misuse Innovation Fund
July 20th, 2015
Decision
To create an annual Innovation Fund, in partnership with Cambridgeshire Constabulary and Peterborough City Council to respond to emerging issues of crime and disorder fuelled by problematic drug and alcohol misuse.
Decision Summary
The Innovation Fund was created in support of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s pledge ‘I am supporting work with partners to tackle drugs misuse and associated crimes’. It is also aligned to the Police and Crime Plan Objective to continue to tackle crime and disorder.
The fund will sit separately to the main new integrated drugs and alcohol treatment contract. It will allow the successful integrated treatment provider to bid to develop innovative practices to tackle crime and disorder linked to drug and alcohol misuse and ultimately reduce the demand on all services.
The fund will total £150,000 in 2016/17.
Peterborough City Council will manage the fund but awarding decisions and evaluation will be a joint responsibility between them, the Police and Crime Commissioner and Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
