To issue precept and approve annual revenue budget for 2017/18
Decision Summary
In accordance with paragraph 2 of Schedule 5 to the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (the “Act”), the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner (the “Commissioner”) notified the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Panel (the “Panel”) of the proposed policing element of the Council tax for 2017/18 in a report to the Panel meeting on the 1st February 2017.
In the same report the Commissioner also notified the Panel of his proposed budget for 2017/18.
The Commissioner’s report to the Panel proposed that the policing precept would be 1.97% increase which will increase Band D council tax rate from £183.15 in 2016/17 to £186.75 in 2017/18.
In accordance with paragraph 3 of Schedule 5 to the Act, the Panel reviewed the proposed precept at their meeting on the 1st February 2017. The Panel made a report to the Commissioner dated 2nd February 2017 entitled “Recommendation following consideration of the report from the Police and Crime Commissioner on the precept 2017/18” in which the Panel outlined their recommendation following their review of the precept.
Under paragraph 5 of Schedule 5 to the Act, the Commissioner gave his formal response to the Panel’s report in a letter to the Chair of the Panel dated 3rd February 2017. The Commissioner published his response on his website. Following the Commissioner’s response, the end of the scrutiny ceased.
The Commissioner issued the precept for 2017/18 in accordance with paragraph 5 of Schedule 5 to the Act.
