Council tax precept, budget and Treasury Management Strategy Statement 2023/24

The Commissioner approved and adopted the Medium Term Financial Strategy 2023/24 including Capital Programme and Treasury Management Strategy Statement for 2023/24.
Decision Summary
In accordance with paragraph 2 of Schedule 5 to the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (the “Act”), the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner notified the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Panel (the “Panel”) of his proposed policing element of the council tax for 2023/24 in a report to the Panel dated 1 February 2022.
In the same report the Commissioner also notified the Panel of the proposed revenue budget and capital programme for 2023/24.
The Commissioner’s report to the Panel proposed that the policing precept would raise by £14.94 per annum increasing the Band D council tax rate from £257.58 to £272.52 per annum in 2023/24.
The Panel’s report dated 2 February 2023 confirmed the Panel unanimously agreed not to exercise its veto power over the precept increase proposed by the Commissioner.
In accordance with Schedule 5 to the Act, the Commissioner gave his formal response to the Panel’s report in a letter to the Chair of the Panel dated 3 February 2023. The Commissioner published his response on his website.
The Commissioner issued the precept for 2023/24 in accordance with paragraph 5 of Schedule 5 to the Act.
The Commissioner approved the 2023/24 revenue budget for policing in Cambridgeshire for £178.2m.
The Treasury Management Strategy Statement for 2023/24 is also approved.
