To appoint John Peach as Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

Decision Summary

Under section 18 of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (the “Act”), the Police and Crime Commissioner (the “Commissioner”) is entitled to appoint one Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (“Deputy Commissioner”) and to delegate certain functions and responsibilities to that person.

The Commissioner notified the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Panel (the “Panel”) under section 1 of the Act of his proposal to appoint John Peach as Deputy Commissioner.

In accordance with Schedule 1 of the Act, the Panel undertook its Confirmation Hearing relating to the appointment of the Deputy Commissioner on the 8th November 2021.

Following the Confirmation Hearing, the Panel made a report under the Act recommending John Peach as the Deputy Commissioner. Under Schedule 1 of the Act, the Commissioner may accept or reject the Panel’s recommendation and give the Panel a response to any such report or recommendation. The Commissioner considered the Panel’s decision and their reasons for their decision in their report and has decided to appoint John Peach to the role of Deputy Commissioner. The Commissioner then informed the Panel of his decision to accept their recommendation.
