To appoint Josie Gowler to the post of the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s Director of Finance

Decision Summary

The Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner (“the Commissioner”) notified the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Panel (“the Panel”) under Schedule 1 of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (“the Act”) of his proposal to appoint Josie Gowler as his Director of Finance. This role includes within it the person referred to in paragraph 6(1)(b) of the Act as ‘a person to be responsible for the proper administration of the Commissioner’s financial affairs and referred to as the Commissioner’s Chief Finance Officer’.

In accordance with Schedule 1 of the Act, the Panel undertook its confirmation hearing relating to the appointment of the Chief Finance Officer on 15th December 2014.

Following the confirmation hearing, the Panel made a report under the Act recommending Josie Gowler as the Chief Finance Officer. Under section 12 of the Act, the Commissioner may accept or reject the Panel’s recommendation and give the Panel a response to any such report or recommendations. The Commissioner considered the Panel’s comments and recommendations in their report and has decided to appoint Josie Gowler to the position of Director of Finance.
