Commissioner to recruit Outreach Worker – South
March 24th, 2014
Sir Graham Bright is recruiting for another Outreach Worker who will cover the southern half of Cambridgeshire.
The move follows the success of Sir Graham’s first Outreach Worker who has been working with partners and other agencies in Peterborough and Fenland since July 2013 to identify and respond to local concerns about crime and issues of community safety.
Sir Graham said: “The pilot has been very successful, enabling me to listen to and act on concerns at local level. There is just one of me, with a huge geographical area to cover, so the outreach work has been instrumental in picking up on things that concern the public.
“My Outreach Worker has met with and listened to a huge variety of groups, individual members of the public and elected representatives – from Watch schemes and people in rural areas to community groups, young people and those with disabilities. She has reported back to me on issues ranging from rural policing to the experiences of callers to the 101 non-emergency number and hate crime which has enabled me to hold the Chief Constable to account.
“People know the value of this work and have been asking me when a similar post will be available in the southern part of Cambridgeshire, so I’m delighted to be moving recruitment forward for this key post. I would encourage applications from self-motivated, confident and people-orientated individuals who want to help me make a positive difference.”
The Outreach Worker for southern Cambridgeshire will cover Huntingdon, East Cambridgeshire, South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge. One of the core responsibilities of the role is to listen to the public as individuals and collectively and to work in partnership with local agencies and voluntary organisations to identify and deliver shared solutions to local crime and anti-social behaviour problems in priority areas. The role will be based at Cambourne with regular travel around Cambridgeshire.
