Commissioner to hold mental health round table
April 3rd, 2014
Cambridgeshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner will host a mental health round table in conjunction with the NHS to discuss delivery of the Mental Health Concordat here in Cambridgeshire.
The Concordat was launched nationally last month and commits signatories to work together to improve the system of care and support for those with mental health problems. Sir Graham has already begun working with local partners to look at what action is needed to provide efficient and effective delivery and provision of mental health services for people in crisis in Cambridgeshire. The round table event will be jointly chaired by Sir Graham and Maureen Donnelly, Chair of the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group.
Sir Graham said: “We want to see partner agencies working much more closely together to ensure people with mental health problems receive the right care, at the right time and in the right place.
“The Concordat was the first important national step to realising this, but we have a lot of work to do locally and must now get on and do it. My round table event will get key local partners together to look at how we can begin to do that in the most efficient and effective way possible.”
The core objectives of the round table event will be to:
– Agree a mental health crisis care declaration that confirms a shared ambition to deliver against the principles and aims of the national Concordat here in Cambridgeshire.
– To establish a Mental health Concordat Delivery Group that is empowered to review, design and progress the provision and delivery of mental health services for people in crisis
The event will be held on July 1. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks.
