Commissioner to recruit Outreach Worker for Peterborough and Fenland

Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire Sir Graham Bright is looking to recruit a new Outreach Worker to cover the Peterborough and Fenland area as the exiting post holder, Nicola Fenton, is moving on to pastures new.

Nicola was appointed in July 2013 to establish the role, working with partners and other agencies in Peterborough and Fenland to identify and respond to local concerns about crime and issues of community safety.

Sir Graham said: “Nicola has done a fantastic job of establishing the role, creating a strong network of contacts and engaging with the public. She has been particularly successful in engaging with young people through her schools liaison work. While I attend many local meetings myself, there is just one of me, with a huge geographical area to cover, so the outreach work has been instrumental in picking up on things that concern the public. I am looking for someone to carry on the excellent work that Nicola has started, engaging with and listening to a variety of groups, individual members of the public and elected representatives – from Watch schemes and people in rural areas to community groups, young people and those with disabilities.”

One of the core responsibilities of the role is to listen to the public as individuals and collectively and to work in partnership with local agencies and voluntary organisations to identify and deliver shared solutions to local crime and anti-social behaviour problems in priority areas.

The last word should go to existing post holder, Nicola: “It has been an amazing two years in which I have met so many fascinating people and learned such a lot about the issues facing the people of Peterborough and Fenland. If you enjoy meeting people and are interested in a challenging, responsible and public-facing role then this is a great opportunity.”
