Commissioner meets with with Elev8 GC Stars

POLICE and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Darryl Preston, joined young people at the Elev8 GC Stars youth project in Peterborough yesterday evening (Tuesday 9th November 2021).

Darryl dropped into the project, a project for young people run by Gladstone Connect at the Iqbal Centre to meet those who are benefitting from the activities provided.

The Elev8 GC Stars project received £3,000 from the Commissioner’s Youth and Community Fund.

The funding allows young people to take part in sports such as boxing and football and more creative pursuits such as mosaic making and song writing. The project has also established a homework club with the support of a qualified teacher on hand with free hot meals provided at every session.

“It was great to meet the young people attending last night and take part in their sustainability project,” said Darryl. “Grassroot projects such as Elev8 GC Stars are fantastic at giving young people the opportunity to try new hobbies and pursue creative endeavours that wouldn’t necessarily be available to them.”

The Commissioner’s Youth and Community Fund was established to support young people to actively participate and contribute where they live, helping them to become positive citizens and lead more fulfilling lives.
