The accounts of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and the Chief Constable for Cambridgeshire are subject to external audit by Mark Hodgson, Director, Ernst and Young LLP, One Cambridge Business Park, Cambridge, CB4 0WZ. Members of the public and local government electors have certain rights in the audit process.
From Friday 16 August 2013 to Friday 13 September 2013 inclusive (except Saturdays and Sundays) between 10.00am and 4.00pm, any person may inspect the accounts of both the Commissioner and the Chief Constable for the year ended 31 March 2013. This includes related documents such as books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts. They may also make copies of the accounts and documents.
Please note that the accounts and records are held in various locations and to facilitate the process applicants are initially asked to contact Tanya Little, Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner on 0300 333 3456 or Jo Conlon, Acting Head of Finance, Cambridgeshire Constabulary on 01480 847779, or email cambs-pcc@cambs.pnn.police.uk.
From 16 September 2013 until the conclusion of the audit process, a local government elector for the area of the Commissioner and the Chief Constable(Cambridgeshire), or his/her representative, may ask the Auditor (see above) questions about the accounts and may also object to accounts of either the Commissioner or the Chief Constable asking that the Auditor issue a report in the public interest (under section 8 of the Audit Commission Act 1998) and/or apply to the court for a declaration that an item in the accounts is contrary to law (section 17 of the Audit Commission Act 1998). Written notice of a proposed objection and the grounds on which it is made must be sent to the auditor at the address given above and copied to Dr Dorothy Gregson, Chief Executive, Office of the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner, South Cambridgeshire Hall, Cambourne Business Park, Cambourne, Cambridge, CB23 6EA.
