Alec Wood proposed as new Chief Constable for Cambridgeshire Constabulary

Alec Wood is to be put forward as the new Chief Constable for Cambridgeshire Constabulary following a robust recruitment process, overseen by the College of Policing.

The search for a new Chief Constable follows the retirement of previous Chief, Simon Parr.

Alec has a long and distinguished policing career gaining experience with several forces before joining Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 2013 as Deputy Chief Constable.  He is currently Temporary Chief Constable following Simon Parr’s retirement.

In line with statutory procedures the Police and Crime Commissioner, Sir Graham Bright, is required to formally notify the Police and Crime Panel of the proposed appointment and they will then be required to arrange a public confirmation hearing.

In a statement, Sir Graham said: “I would like to congratulate Alec on reaching this milestone in the recruitment process.  In the meantime Alec will continue in his role as Temporary Chief Constable and I look forward to continue to work with him in this capacity.”
