Independent Custody Visitors

Please note that we are not currently accepting applications from people wishing to become custody visitors because there are no current vacancies.

However, due to our reliance on volunteers for the scheme, whose personal circumstances often change, the turnover of Custody Visitors is quite high. While we are currently not actively recruiting custody visitors, we do maintain a list of people who would be interested in becoming a Custody Visitor, so that when vacancies arise we can contact those on the list.

Custody Visitors are volunteers from the local community who make unannounced visits in pairs to custody suites of police stations to check on the welfare of detainees. For further information about the scheme, please click here
